Note

This kind of large flute was used as a shepherd’s instrument. The instrument was made by Roko Djakovac from Viljevo, Slavonija, who gave it to Kuhač for his Collection. Luknjice, or finger slots are egg shaped, and Kuhač writes that this shape indicates “a longtime pattern in the way our fluters play, because these egg shaped luknjice are the easiest to close with your fingers and thus prevent air outlet.” (Kuhač 1877: 9)
