The flute with čulo is a long flute made of wood. It has six holes for playing, and a hole for octave on the bottom part. When played, the player puts it on the ground and inbreaths the air from the other side. This flute is usually made and played by shepherds.
The flute was given to Kuhač in 1875 by Mr Bogetić, who was the chaplain in Stari Jankovac.
“Playing the flute is such a widely present skill in our people that they are suprised when a gentleman or a foreigner do not possess this skill.” (Kuhač 1877: 12)
