Description

The sopila, great sopela (as it is called around Dobrinj) is crafted from wood (the specific kind of wood is unknown). The instrument was turned and ornamented with pewter and brass. Its parts are: reed, pirouette, chanter and bell. The reed is composed of two canes (oboe-like) and it is put in the mouth whole. The reed is firmly tied on the bottom with waxed thread and the round part is inserted into the pirouette. The chanter has 6 finger-holes.
