The mišnice consist of a thin tanned animal skin, a wooden chanter, a blowpipe and grooves which close the holes on the bag. The holes on the chanter are arranged 6:3. The reeds inside the stock are made of cane.
People in Brest, Istria, say that “the mišnice player plays the bag”, and that while playing, the player must continuously blow. Because the blowpipe is not closed off he closes the opening of the pipe with his tongue. He uses the three fingers of the right hand to play the upper holes and he uses the little finger to hold the chanter. He also uses the three fingers of his left hand to play the chanter and the little finger is used to support it, and sometimes to close the hole on the bottom. (acc. to Širola 1937)
