Description

The double whistle is an aerophone made of one piece of ash, beech or oak wood. After a square piece of wood is cut, two air pipes are bored along it with a drill. One pipe has four bored playing holes, and the other three. The instrument is tuned to B.

Note

The instrument was made and given as a gift to Kuhač by Simo Vuković from Bizovac, Slavonija, for whom Kuhač noted was a very skilled musician who played so it seemed like “three musicians are playing at once” (Kuhač 1878:1).
Inscribed on the double whistle is:

“the double whistle from Bizovac Slovenija Simo Vuković”
