Triple-reed and quadruple-reed instruments were also most widespread in the area of Hrvatsko Zagorje (Et 3973, Et 3842). The triple-reed flute, the trojke, is made out of a single piece of wood inside which three parallel tubes are bored – some of which have finger holes. They actually consist of conjoined single-reed and double-reed flute, i.e. the dvojnica and the sluškinja. The player plays dvojnice and the third tone is occasionally added during the performance.
The quadruple-reed flute, the četvorke, is made by boring four tubes inside a single piece of wood, however, they are never played at the same time.
