The cornstalk fiddle and the bow are crafted from husk. The husk was peeled off, split, and cut. The part which imitates strings is supported by pieces of husk on both ends. The fiddle and the bow are made in the same fashion, they only differ in their size - the bow is somewhat smaller.
The small fiddle was usually used as a children’s instrument. Adults crafted them or they helped children craft them.
