Description

The sound box is cut out of one piece of wood.

Note

“The tambura builder’s main task is to carve out the sound box, he takes a dry piece of wood corresponding to the sound box length and thickness, then sketches on it the sound box, and finally carves it out using a drill… (...) after having carved out the sound box he then fashions the wood, smoothens it with a rasp, and then makes the neck.” (Kuhač 1877: 65)
