Description

The šaltva is a one whistle vertical open flute with an inside blow pipe and six holes for playing. It is ornamented in wood-carving technique rovašenje - geometrical, flower and plant motives are carved, to which two small gold plated rims are added on the bottom part of the flute.

Note

In addition to being nicely and richly ornamented, Kuhač wrote tones under some holes after having received the flute from a shepherd Ivan Komendanović from Aljmaš. Therefore, for the three bottom holes the tones are not written, and on the third it is inscribed Ais, then Gis, then Fis (from higher to lower for a whole degree).
