Description

The swineherd’s horn is an aerophone usually crafted by children and swineherds. This horn is crafted from green willow bark. The bark is rolled spirally. It is only crafted in the spring.

Note

The sound was obtained by blowing the air into the thinner part of the horn. The sound was intended for the animals and it signaled the way towards the forest or the way back to barns. The swineherd’s horns were made in order for the young swineherds to waste time while grazing their pigs.
